Kolhapur - The land of magnificent temples ( Mahalaxmi Temple)

Kolhapur is situated on the banks of the river Panchganga and is the location of the Temple of Mahalakshmi, a Hindu goddess. Its a city of palaces and gardens, it is a historic Maratha city, with the Mahalakshmi temple forming the focus.

The most interesting part of every tourist visit to Kolhapur is the offering of prayesr to Mahalxmi goddess. It is said that every devotee after seeking the blessing of lord Triputi Balaji also visit Shri Mahalaksmi to seek her blessing as well as to complete the holy pilgrims.

It is situated around 3 km from Bus stand and Railway station.

Malshej Ghat located in Pune,holds special value for hikers, trekkers and adventure lovers.

Public transport is also available  but if you are, like me ,a tea person , must hire a car.
It was a 3 hour journey by car from Pune. But the untouched beauty of villages on  the way is completely mesmerising . Weather also contributed to make our journey memorable with its misty environment and cool breeze. A perfect excuse to stop the car and have tea with hot hot Kanda bhajiya in the lap of nature. (Maharastra Speciality .Dont ever miss)  .

There are plenty of water falls and awesome ghats known as western ghat. For trekker and hikers, this place is heaven in rainy season. But be a little cautious as you may encounter some people enjoying their own way (having alcohol) and creating nuisance for others.  So try to avoid these type of crowd specially if you are with family.

Sinhagad fort in mansoon ... awesome one day trip

Sinhagad fort is situated 30 km in southwest of pune city . Sinhagad  means Lion's place . This fort is at approximate 800 meter above the surrounding countryside .
This fort got this name after the battel of March 1670 . This battle was fought to recapture by Shivaji .
A great warrior Tanaji  Malsure was general of Shiva ji at that time . In this fight , Tanaji lost his life but his courage and bravery win this fort .
After hearing the news of Tanaji death , Shivaji  said  "Gad aala pan Sinha gala" . And by this statement this fort got name of Sinhagad.

Sinhagad has beautiful scenic views along with great history .On the way of Sinhagad , Khadakwasla Dam which is situated at 20 km from pune city has a good place to stay and enjoy at the bank .
